Marcia has spent more than 35 years exploring a variety
of artistic expression including clothing designer, quilter, potter, and
textile designer. In addition, she has been teacher, residential designer
and developer, civic activist, project manager and librarian.
Today, she synthesizes her vast personal, professional and creative experiences
into her most fulfilling creative endeavor: fiber college.
Fiber collage is an art form offering a rich diversity of texture and color.
It is the art of layering and sewing together small pieces of fine silks,
exotic yarns and beautiful threads into a one-of-a-kind fabric.
Marcia started using the fiber collage technique to make scarves, but soon
challenged herself to refine fabric to create unique garments. She emerged
with her own technique, style and business. The process is organic as Marcia
continues to experiment with new techniques, colors and designs for her
garments and accessories.
Using this fiber collage technique to create a new hybrid fabric, Marcia
makes wearable art garments and accessories. Her unique creations help the
wearer make a personal statement about their style and taste. As with a
fine piece of individually designed and handcrafted jewelry, Marcia’s
creations adorn the wearer.
Marcia’s portfolio includes a line of women’s vests, jackets,
purses and scarves as well as men’s tuxedo vests and cummerbunds.
Table runners, sachets and other home decorator items are also available.
She displays at many Northern California art fairs, does regular “Open
Studio” shows and has pieces on sale at retail stores in California,
Arizona and New Mexico. |
